A Saturday afternoon joyride involving an 11-year-old boy and a church van turned into a chase, spanning two counties and ending with a crash in a McDonald's parking lot.
Hazard police say the boy was at a Kentucky state park with his family when he hijacked a church van and decided to go for a spin.
A fish and wildlife official followed the boy on a 20-mile-chase through two counties, and local police joined in the case through Hazard, Kentucky.
Officials say the boy struck several vehicles with the church van, then went into the parking lot of a McDonald's and began ramming vehicles. Police said they had to fire several shots into the van's tire to get the vehicle stopped.
Police say the boy struck six vehicles in all. They're turning the matter over to the juvenile court.
