A man charged with killing one person and injuring another while under the influence of drugs entered guilty pleas to the charges Tuesday, but will not be headed to prison.
John Wheatly, 27 years-old, was sentenced in Carteret County court to a year of in-patient drug rehabilitation and five years probation in a plea deal. He has already served ten months in jail.
Wheatly's drivers license is permanently revoked, he's subject to random drug testing, and has to perform 48 hours of community service each year for 5 years. If he violates any of the requirements he would face as many as five years in prison.
Rebecca Willis, 19 years-old, was killed and 37 year-old Deborah Dettor was injured in the July 2007 accident.
