Young Baseball Player Hit In Head By Stray Bullet

An 11-year-old New York City baseball player preparing for a team photo was shot in the head by an apparent stray bullet.

A police spokesman says the boy is in stable condition. The boy's family told investigators he was taking a picture with his team Sunday evening in Brooklyn when he grabbed his head and started crying.

Relatives initially thought he'd been struck by a baseball.

Police say it was only after he was rushed to a hospital that the family learned a bullet had lodged between the boy's skin and skull.

Investigators have no motives or suspects in the shooting.

yeah lets take away the guns from all the good citizens. that way, we will be at the mercy of all these criminals that receive no punishment from the criminal justice system. week slaps on the wrist from liberal judges and politicians create this atmoshpere of weak punishment for criminals. there is no deterrent for them not to commit the crime. these same liberals wish to now take our guns so that all the good people will be victims. how bout a good start would be severely punish offenders who commit crimes with guns involved. not probation, but a good, long, active prison sentence. i wouldnt mind the democrats taxing the heck out of me like always if they used some money for new prisons. 50,000 people die in car crashes each year. hmmm....should we take everyone's cars away, or punish those drunks and careless drivers on the road?

I agree with both excuse me and whoa! It is guns and people who kill innocent people. Something needs to be done about the people and these guns that are all over our streets. I am not saying get rid of guns but a little more control needs to happen. Our government needs to stop trying to make everyone happy and do something about it. Our children are dying because of stupidty and ignorance.

Thank you, Angie. You've hit the nail on the head. If you take guns away from those who are responsible and law-abiding, only the lawless and criminal will have them. Is that what you envision to be a better place to live? I respect and appreciate our law enforcement folks but tehy can't be everywhere at all times. Being able to safely defend myself is a right I have been granted and will use if needed. I have no desire or need to fire aimlessly about and hit innocent bystanders. The criminals the article details do not have the common sense or decency to be responsible as they try to portray themselves as "ganstas" for the "street cred" they think it wins them. Idiots - all of them... Be thankful for those who try to do the right things in the right ways and stop trying to take it away from those with the guts to do so.

It's not the guns that are out of control it is the people behind the guns!!!

It is exactly what happens when everyone can own a gun. How do you think they make it to the street? If firearms weren't as readily available as they currently are, incidents such as the content of this article would be on the decrease instead of the other way around. Why is the US the only Country in the civilized world that thinks this OK?

Sorry (excuse me) are they to stop that?? Gun's are out of control in this country and something has to be done.

No, it's NOT what happens when you allow everyone to own a gun. It's what happens when people do NOT follow proper procedure to own a gun. Those law-abiding folks who DON'T cause these problems take a course in the safe handling and use of a gun and get a license to carry said gun. Those who go out and buy something off the street with no training and no respect for the weapon are the problem. THAT is why innocent people get hurt in situations like this. Try thinking before you speak next time.

I feel sorry for the youngster and hope all will be alright. Unfortunately, this is the sort of thing that happens when you allow everyone to own a gun!
