Police say a Jacksonville man was put behind bars because he allegedly choked his wife.
It happened Sunday afternoon. Garrett Beshears was charged with assault by strangulation, assault on a female and Interfering with emergency communications.
Officers say when they went to the residence Garrett Beshears had left the scene. His wife Christian was taken to the Magistrate's Office where a warrant was issued for her husband. He is being held with no bond.
Here is how the information was given to WITN:
At approximately 1220 P.M. on June 7th, officers responded to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival officers were advised the suspect, Garrett Beshears had left the scene. The victim, Christian Beshears had been assaulted by choking and her cell phone was taken during the incident. She was transported to the Magistrate’s Office to swear out warrants.
Officers returned to the residence and located Mr. Beshears. He was placed under arrest and taken to the Police Department for processing. After processing, he was transported to the Magistrate’s Office where he was incarcerated in the Onslow County Jail under no bond until his first appearance on Monday.
