POLICE: Two Armed Robberies Connected

Elizabeth City police are looking for two men who police say are responsible for two robberies within the past two days. The latest one involved a man kidnapped at work.

Police say Timothy White, who works at the National Guard Armory, was returning a work vehicle around 1:00 a.m. Friday morning when two men approached him in the parking lot with a pistol. The gunmen demanded that White drive them to an ATM and that he give them $400.

White was then forced to drive the men back.

The first robbery happened around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday night. Deputies say two armed men barged into the Mela Mart on West Main Street. The gunmen forced the store's clerks on the flood and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police believe the two robberies are linked because the description of the vehicle is the same. The car is a gray four-door vehicle, police believe it to be a Mazda Millennium or a Ford Taurus.

Those robbers would have been really disappointed if they saw my bank account.
