Man Charged With Scamming Two Businesses

A man is charged with writing checks to two Wayne County businesses, then stopping payments on the checks.

Kelvin Latrell Rivers, age 29 of Mount Olive, was arrested. His bond was set at $100,000.

The Sheriff's Office says Rivers wrote checks to Wadsworth Electric Company and Bright Ideas of Goldsboro, then put stop payments on the checks.

Officials say the check to Wadsworth was $2900 and was for materials and labor provided to Rivers for a club located on Highway 55 near Mount Olive.

Officials say the check to Bright Ideas was for $617 for special ordered lighting and lighting fixtures.
