45 Home Break-Ins In Greenville Since Christmas

Many people returning home from Christmas vacation this week got a very unwelcome surprise...their home was broken into.

ECU student Samantha Terrell found her apartment had been ransacked. The thieves stole diamond earrings, a flat screen tv, cash, and a phone. They had gotten in through a window. She isn't the only one dealing with this scenario.

According to Greenville Police from January 1st to January 5th there were 27 reports of a home break-in in the Greenville area. We checked online reports and found that since Christmas there have been a total of 45 reports of break-ins.

Police do have leads and suspects. They believe several people and groups may have committed the crimes.

Want crime to stop? Bring back public hangings. Im not kidding. Criminals do a cost/benefit analysis when committing crimes. Of course, we have a pansy judicial system, so the benefits of stealing items outweight the costs of a slap to the wrist by a judge. Im not talking about hanging someone for speeding. I'm talking about hanging someone for messing with/taking another man's property

A lot of people are forgetting the moral compass they hopefully learned as children. Strong parents who bring their children up in church and actively participate in a positive way and also teach them to follow the teachings found in the Bible have a good chance at raising law abiding children.

Greenville has a lot of ECU students that live off campus. Any fool knows most students go home when ECU is on break(Like christmas)Even the Thugs know that. Breakins at students residences are nothing new.Been going on for years during breaks.

If the city council wants to make some changes to deter crime in Greenville then fire Chief Anderson and hire someone that has enough knowledge to quit waisting money on his stupid pet projects and put more cops in uniform on the street doing proactive policing and community policing.

My home was broken into once while I was away for the night. It is indeed a TERRIBLE feeling to know that someone disgusting was rooting through your house and touching all of your things. Insurance can pay for the lost items, but it takes awhile to shake that uneasy feeling.
