Update: Coroner Says Elderly Woman Stabbed

Police are investigating the death of a 62-year-old woman in her Southport home as a homicide.

Authorities told the Star-News of Wilmington that a relative found a window broken and the back door open and called police. Officers then found the body of Gladys Myrie inside.

Brunswick County Coroner Greg White says Myrie was stabbed to
death.

Investigators say there hasn't been a homicide in Southport
since 2001.
