Man Sentenced For Poisoning Kids To Sue Soup Company

A Georgia man is sentenced to 100 years in prison for poisoning his children to extort money from Campbell's Soup Co.

William Cunningham was sentenced Thursday after a jury found him guilty on seven counts of aggravated assault for forcing the children in 2006 to eat soup laced with prescription drugs and lighter fluid.

His 3-year-old son and 18-month-old daughter were hospitalized twice. A family member said the youngsters may suffer lifelong respiratory problems from lung damage caused by the lighter fluid. Cunningham's wife has since divorced him.

Cunningham pleaded guilty in 2007 to a federal charge of making false claims against Campbell's Soup by threatening to sue them over the contaminated soup.

My heart goes out to the children and their mother. I hope there is no "good behavior" or anything to reduce the amount of time he spends in prison.

Isn't this interesting... I've read angrier post on the Michael Vick thread, and that story is about him being out of prison for dog fighting. ..This man was poisoning his children and all some of you can do is critique Sam? ..Seems to me, some of you have too much spare time on your hands. ...I agree with you Sam, good job buddy! ..Same to you Jeff! ..And I never agree with anyone!!!

The headline is accurate. You have to keep it short because the average reader's attention span is so short. It forced you to read the story. So it was effective. This guy needs to rot in prison and put in the cell with a cellmate who has smelly feet and snores loud.

Read the story title. It appears that the man is going to sue the soup company> Last paragraph says he threatened to and was found guilty in 2007 of making false claims. Somebody needs to read the stories they post before they write the headline.

That is classless, greedy, sorry, pathetic, sick, down low, and it should make him spend that what is basically a life sentence to rot in prison. He does not deserve to be around his children for doing that to them. I am glad that his wife has divoeced him. That shows true character on her behalf. If I ever had a spouse to do this (thank god I have a loving wife who has a heart more heart than that sicko) then I would have divorced her as well. What has ever happened to prioritizing the kids well being over the trying to get that extra money these days? That is sad to know this gradually disappears these days.
