POLICE: Suspect Found Driving Rape Victim's Car

A man who police say raped, bound and severely beaten a woman Tuesday night in New Bern has been found in Wilmington.

Robert Partyka was apprehended on Highway 17 in Wilmington while driving the victim's stolen minivan.

Police say the rape happened at the Trent Court housing complex.

The 31-year-old Partyka will face charges of second degree rape, crimes against nature, larceny of a motor vehicle and two counts of communication of threats in Craven County.

According to the North Carolina Department of Corrections website, Partyka was convicted of an assault on a female and communicating threats in September 2008 in Craven County. According to the website, he was given probation and a suspended sentence of 12 months.

    not one of us knows the whole story. i think you should all bite your tongues and keep your judgements to yourselves. You have no idea what really happened, or how much BOTH of them need to get serious help. This news story has omitted quite a bit of history on both people and their relationship. Maybe if you prayed more and truly cared about people, instead of gossiping and crucifying, things would begin to change in this very sad world. you should never wish harm on someone else. what kind of people are you?

    All I can say is that I'm greatful for this. This man is horrible, sick, and needs to be in prison. I know him personaly and he is unfortuatly capable of much more then the horrible things he has done. I'm just glad someone finally listened to the victum and took her seriously! Thank you New Bern and Wilimington police for taking this man off the street.

    Lets get one thing straight. Probation does nothing. If people quit braking the law it has nothing to do with probation.

    I heard this on the scanner last night. It was horrible. I pray for the victim and her family and pray that Robert gets his just payback in prison. SICK PERVERT!! Too many sex crimes in the news. There are to many willing participates out there to force a woman or God forbid an innocent child.
