Arrest Made In Woman Stabbed At Boarding House

New Bern police say they have made an arrest in a morning stabbing.

Anacin Phillips was apprehended just before noon Thursday and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

Police say Debora Best was stabbed around 4:30 a.m. at a boarding house on Queen Street.

They say the two had been together at the boarding house and got into an argument.

The 49-year-old woman apparently left that location and was found lying near the H building at Craven Terrace.

Best was first taken to Craven Regional and then transferred to Pitt County Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Phillips is being held on a $300,000 bond.
