Kidnapping and assault charges are being brought against a New Bern man after police say he held his girlfriend against her will at a home on Nunn Street.
Sterling Jennings, Jr. is being charged with felony kidnapping and assault on a female.
Police say the victim told them that she had been assaulted during a two-hour period early this morning, but was able to escape and run to a neighbors house for help.
The woman had bruises and cuts on her face, legs, hands, back and thighs.
Police say they were unable to process Jennings, who they say was intoxicated when taken into custody.
