Early Armed Withdrawal From Rocky Mount Credit Union

An early morning bank robbery has Rocky Mount police looking for a gunman.

It happened just before 7:00 a.m. at the Freedom Federal Credit Union on North Wesleyan Boulevard.

The drive-in windows at that branch open up at 7:00 on Friday mornings and police say the robber was waiting.

Police say the man, who was wearing all back, removed money and left in a stolen vehicle. That vehicle is a burgundy 2004 Suzuki Verona with North Carolina registration VXY 4778.

Our local paper, the Rocky Mount Telegram, or as we call it, the "Tell A Lie" copied this info & pasted it on their website & failed to check if the info was right, it's NOT. We've tried to post that the Telegram was wrong but they won't post anything that reflects them in a negative way. Please read posts below & on their site for correct information. Anyone with info on who masterminded this bank robbery please call RMPD or better yet call the FBI or SBI cause at least they might solve it.

FYI - no need to be looking for that car, it was spotted burning on a golf course shortly afterwards too, but if anyone has any info please call Rocky Mount Police because they need all the help they can get - I speak from experience in RMPD's lack of experience or should I say lack of concern on robberies.

Yes, there was alot of details left out. He was waiting for us to get there. He was hiding behind some repos that where in the parking lot. And being that we have to park at the back of Credit Union we have to walk to the side of the building to get in, as I came around the building he came out from between the two cars with a gun. Then he told me that I better not put in any wrong numbers, and said that he knew my son(he called him my name)so that if any cops showed up that he would kill them and us, He also called my co-workers child by name.ETC. And he was not wearing all black either.

They should let bank employees be armed, then he might have gotten the same surprise as the home invader. Dave said it exactly right. I don't understand why so many people are oblivious to the truth that the criminals are going to keep all their guns no matter what the laws are. If you take all the guns away from law abiding citizens - who by the way get background checks, etc. to get this carry permit - then do the math and see who is toting all the guns: the criminals. And we'll all be left unable to defend ourselves and the criminals will know this even if the anti-gunners don't get it, until they become the victim and wonder why they got shot. You should be glad I am toting my gun. I might just save your life one day. Many many times over the years, I have had my gun in my car and had to stop at a license/DWI/whatever check. Every single officer has acted like they were glad I had it with me,you just have to tell them you have it. They know I've passed the background check.

This news piece is leaving out a lot of details....yes, the drive thru glass is prob bullet proof...but maybe the robber was waiting for the employee to arrive and over-took her!?!

What I dont understand is the article states that the drive in windows open up at 7am ... did he rob the tellers thru the drive in windows ? One would think that the drive up windows would be bullet resistant glass.

There is nothing in place to stop criminals from entering banks with guns. The only ones who do not carry guns into banks are the lawabiding. Apparently the little sticker on the door with a gun with a red line through it is not a obstacle to criminals. Criminals always look for the path of least resistence. That is the definition of a gun free zone. NO RESISTENCE!!

Oh yeah, letting people walk in the banks with guns will REALLY cure problems like this! You can thank all of these gun toting thugs for our gun laws..
