Kid Won't Buckle Up: Judge Says Bring Him To Court!

Six-year-old Daniel Peet of Los Lunas, New Mexico has put his mother through a lot in recent months.

Jessica Peet says he repeatedly refused to put a seat belt on in her van.

A police officer gave her a ticket because of it.

In March, Peet went to the courthouse and pleaded not guilty.

The judged waived the ticket but demanded to see Daniel in the courtroom.

"The judge talked to him and told him if he would keep doing this he would have to come back to the judge and the judge would see what he could do from there," said Jessica.

The judge also assigned Daniel to a special class with the state school of driving. It's designed to teach kids and their parents about safety.

Jessica says her son is now fearful to break the law and knows he will have to go back to the judge if he doesn't follow the rules.

She said she's thankful for the judge's help.

I'm with The Wise One. You can't make your SIX year old mind?? Please... Tear his hindpart up! And get control of your kid before he's 16 and out of control. And for James, I beg to differ. I am a single mom, and my child is smarter and more well-behaved and well-spoken than most kids with two parents at home. I know I'm in the minority on this, but not all single moms have kids who are badly behaved.

ace- a child is not called 'it'. Also, my mother raised us by herself, no help, and i have a good job, good house, and i don't need to use the system, kthzbai.

Kids need to know who is in charge. Most single moms have problems with their kids. That is because they lack in the authority department. I have spanked my kids yeah, tried time out. Thing thing that got them the most was no, ps2, computer,tv, or going out to play for a few days. That got there attention real quick. Our kids are well behaved and respectful. Then again they have both parents not just 1.

Just another case of someone having a child and not being able to raise it with help. It probably started out as a good idea to show everyone how the court system will help people but it proved the lack of parenting skills.

I stand by my comment. This was just an issue with a seatbelt. What's next? The judge will not always be there to discipline her child. She must learn to discipline him herself.

Now that is one spoiled child who needs to be shown who is boss. For those who don't think child spankings are okay then I suggest you look back to the elders of the world. Before 1970's most people spanked thier kids and it was okay. The children in schools acted so much nicer, drugs were not as out of control and, teens were not as wild as they are now. There is no doubt that people in General were way nicer than they are now. It's all because of displine, not child abuse but showing who is boss. Time outs are for whimps.

To the wise one and the other lady. I have kids and sometimes spanking them does not work. I am tough on my kids but I have to come up with new ways all the time cause somethings do not always work. So who is to say she did not spank him. I do think she could of found something out like not letting him go anywhere unless he puts it on or something like that. But seems to me that this worked so that is great. Do not judge someone.

I'm with The Wise One. I guarantee that this mother does not spank her child and she'll keep having problems like this if she's not willing to. Time out does not always work.

Just maybe you don't know everything. For whatever reason this happened. At least the outcome was good.

She should've torn the tail up. She doesn't have to abuse him to show that she means business. Parents and kids these days...
