Oakwood, TX -- The chief of police in the small town of Oakwood, Texas was in Jail Tuesday after his arrest on a warrant charging aggravated assault that stems from what evidently was the use of a Taser on his wife.

Oly Yahnson Ivy, 30, became the town’s police chief two months ago.
The arrest warrant was issued after an incident Monday morning at his home.

He was ordered held on a $100,000 bond.

Monday night, the Oakwood City Council voted unanimously to fire him after council members were advised that Ivy’s wife had injuries consistent with use of a Taser.

This man clearly abused his authority and isn't worthy of a job where he's in any position of power. Hopefully the wife is protected from him. He is such a coward.

It really is a disgrace to the rest of us when someone does this. On one hand we have Deputy Pearson bravely confronting a armed gunman and giving his life. The other this guy who tases his wife. I would submit that he is the exception not the rule. The vast majority of officers are like Pearson in that they would bravely go after the bad guy, so please don't judge us all because of one dummy.

I know that this is an emotionally charged time w/ all that has happened..but I agree w/ the comments by Wilma..I will go one farther, I see them as codified gangs..consider the language of law enforcement and gangs..they are all "brothers" they protect their turf, they have their colors, they protect each other...and then there are those, the people in the middle, who subjugated to their whims of what is right and wrong..do I trust " law enforcement", NO--no further than I could toss the Empire state building, just like I wouldn't trust the Bloods or the Crypts... As Robert Ludlum said during the OJ trial, that the job of the police was to make sure that the prosection won, no matter what... Somone will read this and go how horrible, this person doesn't support law enforcement...they are correct to a point.."law enforcement" should not be supported when they cross the line

Just because you are in law enforcement, and this has been proven by many of these "protectors", you don't need to be the brightest bulb. Please don't think that there are not good members of law enforcement out there, but there are just as many out there that fail to signal, speed when not necessary, yap on their cell phones, and do other illegal things. They just can get away with it because they have blue lights on top of their vehicle.

What an idiot! How can a town hire a 30-year-old to be the police chief? Did they not have any other applicants? He looks like somebody who was picked on in school and decided to go up and have an edge to "get back" at people who picked on him. It takes so little education and training to be a police officer and then we hand them GUNS?!!? How stupid is that?
