Accused Killer Due In Court

Nearly two years after the tragic murder of a 7-year-old girl from Lenoir County, her accused killer is still going through the courts system.

John Alan Manning is due in court Tuesday, charged with the rape and murder of Chasity Sumner in the Lenoir County town of Pink Hill. Lawmen found the girl's body in a ditch near her home in April 2007.

Judgement of the Grandmother of this child is wrong. Mr. Manning is a pedifile and the truth is that pedifiles are friendly, charming and unpredictable... they prey on innocent children and their families. The only protection our children and families have from them is to understand that there is no cure for their illness and they should not be allowed back in our population.

It is easy to point fingers and say who should have done what... AFTER everything is already done. Lack of judgement maybe, but posting on the internet bad mouthing the grandmother of a deceased child also shows lack of judgment and character.

I cannot believe that this has gone on for two years. She was a beautiful little girl with so much promise. This monster should not have even been allowed to live in the same house with this child. That shows the grandmothers lack of judgement. All of Lenoir County has waited for a verdict of this monster and please WITN keep us informed of the outcome of these court dates. It is way overdue. May justice prevail!!! And allow Chasity to finally rest in peace.
