Three frantic phone calls to 911 illustrate the chaos at a North Carolina nursing home where a gunman went on a shooting rampage, killing eight people.
Audio tapes released Monday included a woman pleading with the
Moore County emergency dispatcher to send an ambulance to Pinelake
Health and Rehab in Carthage, with the caller saying "Please hurry
up, please!" and "Oh, God, please!" in a second plea for help.
One caller told the operator that "there's a man in here with a double-barrel shotgun shooting people. White man with a beard."
The operator advised the caller to get people secured, with the caller replying, "I'm trying the best we can now."
A third call was cut short, with the operator telling the caller that help was on the way.
