Rocky Mount police have arrested a man they say tried to kill two women with his car Monday morning.

Steven Felix was arrested last night after an officer spotted his vehicle. Officers say the man initially stopped for them in the L&L Store parking lot on Winsted Avenue, but then took off. He was arrested after a short police chase.

Felix is accused of trying to hit a woman on Sunset Avenue, near City Lake. That victim received minor scrapes while trying to escape the path of his car.

About 15 minutes later, police say Felix drove to the U Brush Em car wash and spoke to a woman while she was vacuuming her car. Police say he began harassing the woman and she reported it to the attendant. They say Felix got back in his SUV, struck the woman's car and then chased her with his vehicle. She was hit and fractured her knee.

Felix is being held on a $150,000 bond. He's charged with two counts of attempted first degree murder, two counts of felony hit & run, and failure to heed to light or siren.

Original Story

Police in one Eastern Carolina city are looking for a hit and run vehicle that hit one woman this morning and tried to strike a second woman.

Rocky Mount police say it started around 8:45 a.m. at City Lake. They say the black 2008 or 2009 Ford Escape tried to hit a woman as she was walking by the lake.

About 15 minutes later the same man drove to the U Brush Um Car Wash on North Church Street. While in the parking lot, police say he hit a woman with his vehicle. That victim is being treated at Nash General Hospital.

The vehicle is a 4-door model with luggage rack, 5 star rims and has damage on the left front and left front guarter panel. It was last seen on Falls Road, heading towards the Edgecombe County side of Rocky Mount.

If anyone sees this vehicle, please contact Rocky Mount police at 252-972-1411.

what a person is dealing with or going through or if they are mentally capable to drive still doesn't give them the right to try to kill 2 people - last time I checked the law (& commandment) was the same for everyone regardless of mental state, color, or personal issues

From the looks of his picture and the description of his actions, you would think that he has mental issues. Does he have a license? If so, should he really? This sounds all too strange.

Yep, that's pretty much the case in "Remarkable Rocky Mount". I can't think of one reason to tell anyone to visit, much less live here.

Rocky Mount is taking over Durham's title of Crime Capitol. I agree, it'll be the same old "blah blah" story. I wish he had tried that with me, my SUV is 3 times the size of that Escape. Thank God they finally got him last night.

How lovely, now we have to be on the lookout for this moron every time we step outside. I think I will keep myself on this part of Edgecombe until they get this idiot. That is, if they can. Too bad he didn't drive toward someone with a concealed carry permit!!! No more problem!!
