MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A Montgomery teenager faces an attempted murder charge after police said she put boric acid into breakfast cereal that was fed to her mother and 2-year-old sister.
Police Major Huey Thornton, a spokesman, said the 14-year-old female was also charged with reckless endangerment Tuesday.
Thornton said an investigation determined the girl was upset with her mother because she had been spanked for being disobedient.
Police said mother and child were not seriously injured. Both were treated and released.
The teen was charged as a juvenile, but Thornton said a judge could order the girl to stand trial as an adult.
