A shooting outside a church early Thursday morning has police searching for a suspect.
Kinston police say a 15-year-old boy was shot in the head on the porch of the House of Hope Church on Lincoln Street. Marvin Shackleford was airlifted to Pitt County Memorial Hospital where he is in critical condition.
The shooting happened at 1:32 a.m. and police say the teen victim was breaking the city's curfew.
Police are looking for Dontresz Hill as a person of interest in the shooting. Originally police had a warrant out for Hill for attempted murder. But late Thursday they announced that warrant had been recalled, saying new facts and further investigation led them to take that action.
The church was purchased by NBA star Jerry Stackhouse and given to his mother, who is the church pastor.
If anyone has information regarding the shooting or the location of Hill, they are asked to call Kinston Public Safety at 252-939-3160 or Lenoir County Crime Stoppers at 252-523-4444.
