Man Turns Himself In After Robbery & Chase

A robbery suspect has turned himself in to police after they say he managed to escape after a chase Thursday morning.

Michael Porter is charged with armed robbery and felony hit and run after Kinston police say he first held up the Murphy Express on West Vernon Avenue.

A sheriff's deputy spotted a suspect vehicle and tried to stop it. A chase began with the car eventually crashing into a house at the corner of Rouse Road and Jennifer Street. The suspect got away.

Police say the 23-year-old Porter is in jail on a $25,000 secured bond and say more charges are pending.
