New Bern police were called to Craven Regional Medical Center on March 14, 2009, around 2:45 am, when a man who had been cut by a knife went to the emergency room for treatment.

When officers arrived they spoke to the victim, Shade Arthur Simpson, 09/13/1969, who said he was attacked while leaving Nikki's Night Club at the corner of Bern and Queen streets. Simpson received a cut to his neck. No one else was injured during the incident. Simpson was treated and released from Craven Regional Medical Center.
