Burger King To Pay NC Woman In Sexual Harassment Lawsuit

Burger King Corp. will pay $85,000 to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit filed on behalf of a North Carolina woman who was harassed by her store manager.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission said Monday that Kathleen Joyner was sexually harassed by her general manager at a restaurant in Clemmons from about December 2006 to March 2007.
She was 18 at the time.

The lawsuit also said Joyner complained to her assistant managers, who failed to take action.

The settlement requires Burger King to provide anti-harassment
training to all managers and shift coordinators at the Clemmons
restaurant and at the Winston-Salem Burger King where Joyner's
general manager was transferred.

Restaurants also must review the anti-sexual harassment policy
with all new employees.

To Anonymous 10:06 p.m., March 10th: You are exactly right about many of these lawyers. They are not trying to help the client for the client's benefit. They are trying to help the client get as much money as possible, just so the lawyer will get as much money as possible out of these types of lawsuits. You will be amazed at how mmuch a lawyer, defense or DA, will lie lie and lie some more to keep steering the judge into ruling in their favor. I am sure these types of lawyers are scratching the judges and DA's backs these days. It creates a win-win situation for the attorneys. The corporations get cheated on by all these people acting crooked.

HaHa! Yeah, shes catching on! Hey, not that its not a little bit insulting when somebody that you have worked with for 6 months can't tell you what color your eyes are, but short of being physically violated, its something that most can overcome. However! Let somebody tell you that you can walk away with 85k as a result of that behavoir & I bet you put on the victim act real fast! I mean really.. You think she sued him so that maybe no other woman would have to suffer with his harassment again?? PSSHT! All about the bens baby!

Alpha Female almost won her case, but the man only looked at her for 1/2 second.

A word to the wise: If any man looks at a woman for more than three (3) seconds, It is an evasion of privacy. This is how lawyers prey on corporations. Pay up, or go to court. Pay-up is cheaper than going to court.

I cannot say that this didnt happen because I was not there. But is paying her $85,000 the real solution? It kind of makes me wonder if she will fake a harrassment just for the money.

I question harassment charges in almost any situation. It's not that difficult to respond negatively to this type of behavior. I did, in any case!

I used to work in a place where Sexual harassment happened all the time. I complained to the upper management but to no avail.I think somethings are best left alone like Sexual Harassment and racial comments. But we live in a world where it is acceptable. When I complained to the management I was told 'We don't report sexual Harassment,We grade it!" As a man I know it happens to the women more ,but there are a lot of men who get it as well.I think men are afraid of being made fun of and all . But sometimes it can be very serious. But all in all there are bogus claims and the ones who start it up and when they don't get what they want so they holler harassment like rape. It is a sad thing to say but that s the way it is>!
