Home Invasion Suspect Turns Himself In

A man wanted for the attempted first degree murder of a woman and her 8 year old son is in police custody.

Rich McCormick turned himself in Wednesday. Deputies say the 21 year old McCormick broke into a mobile home back in January.

A 38 year old woman was beaten and stabbed multiple times, while her 8 year old son was struck multiple times on his body and head.

McCormick faces two counts of attempted first degree murder, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and burglary.

Rich McCormick is wanted for a home invasion that happened last month in Lenoir County and authorities say he should be considered violent and unpredictable.

Deputies say the 21-year-old McCormick broke into a mobile home on Lazy "R" Boulevard on January 19th. A 38-year-old woman was beaten and stabbed multiple times, while her 8-year-old son was struck multiple times on his body and head.

McCormick is facing two counts of attempted first degree murder, 2 counts of assault with a deadly weapon and burglary.

Deputies say if McCormick is spotted people should not approach him, instead call your nearest law enforcement agency.
