A Reserve Deputy with the Pitt County Sheriff's Office and director of public safety training at PCC is being credited with helping police track down two bank robbery suspects.
Greenville police say Jeff Robinson called to report the incident at Centura Bank on Mall Drive and that he was following the suspects vehicle.
Greenville police located and stopped the vehicle on Thomas Langston Road.
Police arrested 23 year-old Nicholas Smart of Ayden and 23 year-old Virginia Clary of Greenville. Police say Smart was the one who robbed the bank while Clary drove the getaway car. Police say no weapon was seen during the robbery.
According to the North Carolina Department of Corrections website, Nicholas Smart was convicted in July of misdemeanor larceny and was placed on probation for 18 months.
