Murder Suspect in Police Custody

A weekend assault has turned into a murder case after police say the victim died.

Police say Leroy Jenkins, Jr. of Kerr Street in Jacksonville has been arrested on first degree murder charges.

Police say Saturday 52-year-old Angerina Bradley was assaulted by Jenkins on Newberry Street. They say Jenkins and another man were involved in an argument and Bradley tried to intervene.

Due to her head injuries, Bradley was transferred to Pitt County Memorial Hospital where she died Tuesday.

I would like to thank everyone responsible for catching this man LeRoy Jenkins. Angerina was a Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Friend, Auntie and so much more. My mom was full of life and no matter what type of life she lived, she was still a human being. We are sorry that this tragedy happened to our LOVED ONE, but at least we know there will never be another woman to be hurt by this man. I hope that our mother's death does not go invain. Just as she was protecting someone, I wished SOMEONE would have protected her. She will surely be missed because she was surely LOVED. Again we thank Onslow County Sheriff's Department for all their hard work...... The Family of .......<3ANGERINA BRADLEY<3....
