Animal Control in Craven County says the owner of 5 pit bulls and a beagle that were seized in what authorities call a dogfighting ring have until Wednesday to claim their animals.

Officials say that if the animals are not claimed by the deadline, the five pits will not be put up for adoption. The dogs will go to breed specific individuals who are experienced and understand the liabilities of owning a pit bull. The beagle will be given to beagle bassett rescue and put up for public adoption. Officials say all of the animals that were seized are continually getting their health back.

and animal control thinks they will just stop the fighting now that they have gotten caught..I dont think so, use your better judgement. You dont see drug dealers stopping the first time they got caught do you??

Jim, I agree. WHAT IN THE WORLD is Animal Control thinking giving them back? I thought they wanted to STOP the ring, not give them back to continue it! How ignorant!
