ONLY ON WITN: Police Nab Break-In Suspect After Call From Alert Neighbor

An alert neighbor and quick action by police helped nab a home burglary suspect.

It happened just before lunch in the Windsor Downs subdivision of Greenville. Police tell us Aaron Simpson broke into the home on Southlea Drive. They say Simpson was scared off by a motion detector and immediately left.

A neighbor saw the suspected burglar leave and called with a description of his car. Greenville police spotted the silver Cadillac on Fire Tower Road and pulled it over near the Liberty Tax Service.

Simpson is charged with attempted breaking and entering for the home on Southlea, while he's also charged with breaking, entering & larceny to a home on Hillard Lane back on December 9th. Police say they're investigating whether Simpson is involved with other crimes at this time.

Neighbors tell us this isn't the first robbery in the area and they pledge to continue looking out for each other.

To VBush, most likely instead of the Cadillac being stolen, it was probably bought with money off of other stolen goods from the past or drugs, and to anonymous of winterville, is that the same neighborhood between County Home Road and Corey Road with the nice new Bill Clark houses being buit out there? If so, then I reckon that it is safe nowhere anymore.

Every Criminal is already greedy, they just are insane and can't stop. I am glad a person had the heart and guts to call the police on that fool. We need more people who are like the person who called the police. Community Watch needs to be inforced again if we can ban together.

with things like they are (economy , job losses) we will all have to begin to look out for one another like this good neighbor did today. I live in this general area where the break in was and we do have some folks out of jobs and staying at home so for sure they will be looking out for thugs and low life like this one.........

Everyone should be more alert these days of their surroundings. Good job to the neighbor for calling in the suspect information and not trying to get directly involved and taking the chance on getting hurt yourself. As for the criminals out there...keep in mind there are people out there watching you and eventually you will get caught. Every criminal get greedy. Once they get away with something they get cocky and go to the next victim. Well, cockiness leads to carelessness, which may lead to you breaking into the wrong persons house one day paying the ultimate price. Think twice before going into places that dont belong to you. People are tired of leaving you criminals to the court systems. Again, great work neighbor!!!!!

certainly due to economic issues, a lot of more people are at home and as needed looking out for their freinds and neighbors property.Great job to the neighbor and all law enforcement involved.

stupid burgulars! cant break in to just one! thats why they eventually get caught to greedy and stupid. Someone must be fencing merchandise around here and reselling it on the black market because its too many items that are common in these robberies. plus the stupid thieve keep stealing and stealing... so they must be getting some good money for the stuff...
