A woman was stabbed to death -- in cold blood.

That's according to people who live around there. Barabara Jean Phillips was inside her home in the Pitt County Town of Fountain, when William Pittman reportedly pulled out a knife and stabbed her. Phillips later died.

When Pitt County Sheriff's Deputies arrived -- Pittman was on the scene. Investigators say, Pittman showed them a knife and said that's what he used to kill her. Residents say, Phillips was a funloving person, who only wanted to help others.

Pittman is behind bars in Pitt County.

Original Story:
A Pitt County man was booked in the detention center Tuesday night, accused of stabbing the woman he lived with to death.

William McCoy Pittman is charged with murder. Lawmen responded to a fatal stabbing at the Deerfield Apartments in the town of Fountain. That's where Barbara Jean Phillips died after getting stabbed, according to the Daily Reflector of Greenville. Neighbors told the paper that Pittman and Phillips lived together. They also said, several people witnessed the fatal attack.

Bill is my cousin and I haven't seen in a long while, but I know that his actions although brutal, probably stem from long time alcohol abuse. Alcohol had taken charge of his coherency a long time ago. When we as a society ignore the root of our problems, we tend to magnify its effects. This is a tragedy for everyone involved. God help us all, because I believe everyone has a Bill in the family.

The day before this sad & terrible incident happened, I stopped by Barbara Jean's home looking for my cousin Bill; unfortunately for me, he was not there. I had not seen or talked to him in several months, & felt it was long over due. THE VOID STILL REMAIN. Life is a precious jewel meant to be shared, not abused or destroyed by thoughts & actions. The giver of this life is GOD, & our temporary home is the earth. Believers of God see clearly this mystery, and know full well that HEAVEN is home eternally. Yet, our joy about transitioning from earth to heaven must not be selfish; since we are indeed disciples of God's only begotten Son Jesus. Jesus has called us to witness to the world concerning God's love, his grace, his judgement, & his endless mercy. God calls on everyone to REPENT (turn from evil, bad habits, sin), & accept SALVATION (saved from destruction & power of Satan), thru JESUS. Just think about it, a SCUM as I was, has been accepted & annointed by a Holy & Righteous GOD.

Well one thing we know is that we can not change what has already taken place. But, we can learn that if you hear someone repeatedly saying they are going to kill someone. Take them serious anyway you never know what the outcome may be. I knew the both of them and I hope people in fountain take heed that it is time for a change in that area. I pray that bill will repent for what he has done and ask God to forgive him. I am going to barbara jean and bill because we all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and in need of salvation. Fountain wake up and know that God is real. I hope this does not have to happen again for people to get it together. Roy Lee and Evette you guys are in my prayers keep faith in God, He will see you through. Psalm 121:1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills from whence all my help comes from.

I knew Barbara Jean well. She was very sweet, funny, and laid back. This is an absolute tragedy that this is how her life ended. She absolutely did not deserve to die in such a way. This needs to be a wake up call to the Town of Fountain...clean up your act. There is so much going on in that little town it's unbelievable. Time for the residents of Fountain to take a stand when they see illegal activity going on.
