Five Teens Charged In Armed Robbery, Assault

Five Pitt County teenagers are behind bars, accused of robbing and hitting a man early Tuesday morning.

It happened at Myrtle Avenue and West 14th Street around 12:30 a.m. The 61-year-old man told Greenville police he was walking down the street when he was confronted by a group of young men, one who was armed with a handgun.

The victim says they demanded money and then began hitting him and pushing him to the ground. They made off with a bag which contained two pairs of shoes and got away in the gold Honda Accord.

Police spotted the vehicle and subsequently arrested five teens for the armed robbery.

The victim was cut on his head during the holdup, but did not require medical treatment.

Those arrested are: Darren Sims, 19 of Greenville, Travaus McMilliam, 17 of Farmville, James Swinson, 16 of Farmville, Julius Williams, 19 of Farmville, and Basel Washington, 19 from Farmville. All five are charged with armed robbery and assault inflicting injury.
