Gunfire As Police Bust Suspected Liquor House

Gunfire rang out as Rocky Mount police were investigating a possible liquor house early Sunday morning.

Larry Solomon is charged with five counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, discharging a firearm in the city limits, selling alcohol without a permit and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.

Police say they got a search warrant for 506 Myrtle Avenue after getting complaints from area residents about a liquor house operating in their neighborhood.

During the raid police say Solonom yelled out that he would killed officers if they came in. Police say once they got inside, Solomon fired his shotgun into the ceiling.

No one was injured by the gunfire and police confiscated six liters of alcohol, a shotgun and $381 in cash.
