Greenville Store Owner Robbed At Gunpoint

The owner of a Greenville store is still in shock after being robbed at gunpoint today.

Bennie Roundtree says robbers put a gun right to his face, asked for money then took a pocketbook, all the store's credit cards, fifteen dollars and a cigarette.

Roundtree explained that these type of crimes are starting to be the norm in his neighborhood.

"I didn't feel safe in the beginning because I knew we're out in the streets, and if the community doesn't get more involved, the police won't be able to solve it" Roundtree said.

Mr Roundtree says it's the second time his Bonner's Lane store has been robbed. Greenville police are still investigating.

Well Doug, everybody isn't aware of who Bennie Roundtree is/was. In a sense it is a store, he's selling a service. If he collects rent there, these bums knew there should be money there. They are cowards!

WITN....It was a property rental office, not a store, where the robbery occurred...Bennie is not a "store owner robbed"...he is the President of the SCLC and sits on its national board....tighten up.

Message to Greenville PD. When are you going to create a stakeout team to put in different places of business. Like the old NYPD stakeout teams of the late 60s.Put your best marksmen on it and give them heavy duty body armor and weaponry and the right to open fire on robbers, and dont let it be known which store they will be in.Rotate them from store to store on a daily basis(any stores willing to accept it)and I guarantee you will be a deterrent. It probably wont be popular with the liberal crybabies in the community but whats new? Its better for the robbers to meet thier demise than the honest store clerk out there trying to make an honest living.

Chris, I didn't say I agreed with Mr. Roundtree, I just meant he helped out a lot of people, like this (at the time) a poor white girl being mistreated by the establishment. If you recognize my name from these blogs, then you know that's a lot coming from an admitted racist.

Remember when the petition was going around to try and get the police chief removed from office? The SCLC were the first ones to stand on the front steps of the police department and stand up for him. No worries everyone. Change is coming!
