UPDATED: Man Makes Court Appearance After Murder Charge

A judge ordered an Onslow County man held without bond after his arrest for killing a neighbor Monday.

William Littleton made a first court appearance this morning in Jacksonville.

Deputies arrested the 45-year-old man Monday after Luther Keanning was shot to death. It happened Monday afternoon on Gibson Branch Road, that's outside of Belgrade.

Deputies say the two men were involved in an ongoing property dispute that was supposed to be heard in court Tuesday afternoon.

The sheriff's office says two witnesses have come forward saying that Littleton had told them he was going to kill Keanning. The latest was Monday.

Deputies say they have responded to the Gibson Branch Road eight times within the past two years involving Littleton. They said each time it involved a different neighbor.

Littleton's next court date is January 12th.

Another ignorant redneck. Premeditated murder equals the death penalty and a decrease in the surface population.

Al: I can understand how it would look that way from the outside, but if you lived here you would feel differently. Mr. Kaemming is only one in a very long list of businesses, neighbors, and co-workers who have had run-ins with the shooter. This is very sad, but unfortunately not at all surprising.

I have had some dispute in the past with my neighbors like " 4 wheelers going way to fast and shooting near my house and on my property. I have called the sheriff a few times. It was all handled accordingly. These men maybe had an issue with anger and who knows maybe this guy had a mental issue . He handled it wrong. I feel for both families because they both lost loved ones here. Who knows what made him go over the edge. Maybe the man shot was doing something he should not have been doing to instigate him. We will never know the truth.

The only person who claimed the victim did anything wrong was the shooter's own son. The other neighbors interviewed said Mr. Littleton was the one who approached Mr. Kaemming on the 4 wheeler while Mr. Kaemming was grading the road.

I guess he (the killer) doesn't have to worry about his property now anymore, does he? This becomes more and more of an insane world every day. How shameful it has become that humans devalue human life more and more?

from what i read on the daily news website the man that was killed was chasing the other man who was on a four wheeler with a tractor and trying to run him over. it's amazing how people can let small disputes get out of hand. this was all uncalled for. my prayers go out to both families
