Boy, Age 11, Arrested For Shooting Brother, Age 8

Cleveland, Ohio police say they have arrested an 11-year-old boy who shot and wounded his 8-year-old brother while the two were playing "gangster" Friday morning.

Police say the boys were playing with a gun they found in their grandmother's car.

The 8-year-old is being treated at MetroHealth Medical Center for a gunshot wound to his upper chest. His condition wasn't immediately available, but police Lt. Thomas Stacho says the wound does not appear to be life-threatening.

He says the 11-year-old is being charged with felonious assault and the grandmother will be charged with failure to secure a deadly weapon.

The boys' mother, Kimmie Hicks, was sentenced Nov. 17 to four years in prison for beating them with an ax last July.

Social Services is probably out harrassing and threatening the parents who try to make their kids mind by saying they can't spank them because it "damages their self esteem".

I would love to know why Granny had a weapon accessible to them in the first place? this is why there are gun locks and in my case a safe for my fire arms. I leave one out but it is secured in a safe place where my children cannot get it. My children know not to touch a weapon if they come across it. I have properly trained them and they respect firearms . but I am no fool. Proper education is the rule here. I am sorry for the kids ! Seems to me they have been in a lot of hurt too much. So where is Social Services?? There needs to be some intervention for these boys before they get in to a heck of a lot of more trouble or be the gangstas they need not to be! Prayer is much needed here!!!!!

What is this world coming to? Guns should never be where children can get them! The grandmother should be charged for negligence! I hope the 8 year boy is ok!
