Second Murder This Week In Mount Olive

For the second time this week police in Mount Olive are investigating a murder. In fact, these are the town's only murders this year.

The latest one happened this morning when police found a dead man lying in the roadway. It happened in the 1100 block of North Breazeale Avenue, near the Roses Shopping Center, around 11:00 a.m.

Police say witnesses reported seeing the man falling out of the front passenger door of a white sports utility vehicle, possible a GMC Yukon. The SUV sped off south on Breazeale Avenue.

The victim, who is believed to be approximately 40 years old, later died at Wayne Memorial Hospital from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.

Tuesday night police say an argument between two men left one of them dead and another charged with murder. That stabbing happened on Lees Country Club Road.

Anyone with information about Friday's murder or the vehicle is urged to contact Mount Olive Police Department at 919-658-5031 or Goldsboro/Wayne Crime stoppers at 919-735-2255.
