City Councilman Charged With Assault

A Rocky Mount city councilman has been charged with assault stemming from a scuffle after a city council meeting Monday night.

Andre Knight was served with a criminal summons Tuesday and has a January 14th court date.

Police chief John Manley says he had to step in between Knight and Herbert Moore after the meeting.

Manley says he did not arrest the councilman at the time because he felt it was more appropriate to simply mitigate the situation. Moore later pressed charges at the magistrate's office.

Mr.Moore is not a Councilman,he's just a ordinary 70yr old man who's residence is about to be annexed into the city limits.Knight is a Councilman,Racist and a Crook by his own actions who creates alot of drama and scandel everywhere he goes.We are all hoping he's voted off the city council,Mr.Moore was only asking him a question after a Q/A meeting between effected annexed residents and the council when Knight showed himself like that.We all hope he is voted off the City Council.I hope WITN continues to follow this story.

Either way Cactus both of these men are supposed to be city councilmen and act in an appropriate manner. I'm not saying I wouldn't "let it ride" but apparently there was some sort of "crime" committed. To each his own but I don't see how you can defend a man if he indeed did assault someone.

Geez, I'll bet you would not let "it ride".

Reminds me of the county commissioner meetings you see on cable that at times resembles a freak show.

Pure silliness on Mr. Moore's part. A day in court for both of them, spending tax payer money when Mr. Moore could have gone home, pouted a little bit and let it ride!!
