A former Wayne County resident has been arrested for killing two people in Iowa over the weekend.
Atiba Spellman was arrested Monday in Pikeville after deputies spotted him driving down a highway. Deputies had been alerted that Spellman was wanted in a double murder that happened Saturday in Ames, Iowa and that he might have returned to Pikeville.
Spellman is in jail without bond, awaiting his return to Iowa to face the two murder charges.
The NBC station in Des Moines says Spellman is accused of killing Michael Odikro and Shakena Varnell, both of Ames. WHO-TV says Odikro's body was discovered outside of an apartment building on Saturday morning, and Varnell's body was located inside an apartment.
