I can't stand people who fight pits. I lived in FL and raised and breed pits. I had 3 that were like children to me. When I moved up here, I could not find a place to live that would allow me to keep my dogs, and it's this right here that has made a bad name for them. Pits are great dogs, with someone who trains them right. I am disgusted to know that Pit bulls may become banned, that's right illegal, because someone has mistreated them to begin with. I can't even believe that the government can have control or say in what breed dog you own. People that fight/abuse dogs should be the ones who get "banned"! Please help save the Pit bulls!

Give the Deputies a raise, put a porkchop in the dog fighters pants and set the dogs on them, and ABORTION is a womans own dern choice, leave it alone.

I hope that these dog fighters rot in jail. They deserve to, how could you train an animal to fight agressively for entertainment? Honestly, these people belong in jail with real animals.

What does this story have to do with abortions? Geez,(Sheri) stick to the information in the article when commenting. Maybe one day they will make tougher penalties for people that fight dogs and it will help put a stop to it. Anyone that can find enjoyment in watching dogs injure and kill each other have serious mental problems.

To wondering.... I hope that you will contact the newspaper in Edenton to look into the fact that nothing is being done about the dog fighting in the Edenton area!

Concerned, you are absolutely right and I am not taking away from the cruelty shown to these animals.

Sheri I agree we need to get priorities straight however just because they are "dogs" does not mean they deserve to be treated this way. Yes, it does upset me because I do own pit bulls and to stop these fighting rings is a priority of mine.

Nessa I hope your dog returns home or at least you find some closure. Was your dog neutered...because if not...then male dogs will roam and a lot. I know this advice comes to late..but remember this so when he comes home this doesn't happen again. Microchip...$20.00 at the pound..never a lost pet again. The best $20.00 you'll ever spend. The first thing the pound does now is scan for a microchip. If your dog was turned in, they would know to call you. If your dog was stolen...the pound would know his exact location. I've had a pet go missing also, I learned about microchipping the hard way.
