UPDATE: Family Identifies 15-Year-Old Accidentally Killed By Gun

Family members tell WITN's sister station, WNCN that the 15-year-old killed was Nicholas Exley.

Johnston County authorities have arrested Robert Furey and charged him with voluntary manslaughter in the death.

A spokeswoman for the Sheriff says that Furey was showing the teen a gun at his home in Wendell when it went off and killed him.

Johnston County authorities say a 15-year-old boy is dead after a gun accidentally went off, and the gun owner is in jail.

Sheriff spokeswoman Tammy Amaon says Robert Furey was showing the teen a gun at his home in Wendell about 9:30 p.m. Friday when it went off and killed him. The boy's name has not been released.

Furey is charged with voluntary manslaughter.

Authorities also have not released the make of the gun or where the boy was shot.
