UPDATE: Marine Cuts Wife With Box Cutter, Runs From Officers

According to jail officials the domestic assault suspect who ran from officers is now in jail. They say he was caught late Saturday evening.

Havelock police are searching for a marine who they say ran from officers after he physically assaulted his wife by using a box cutter to cut her face and forehead.

Police say that suspect is Onterrio Brooks. Brooks lives aboard MCAS Cherry Point.

According to police they were called out to a home at 209 Wynn Road in Havelock around 4 p.m.

Brooks fled the scene on foot after the assault. His wife was treated at the scene by Havelock EMS personnel but refused transport to the hospital.

Brooks is now wanted on charges of 2nd degree kidnapping, assault with a dangerous weapon, communicating threats, and larceny.
