Marines will be sending an Osprey squadron from New River to help with the fighting in Afghanistan.
A squadron of MV-22 Ospreys from Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 261 will begin deploying next month. The squadron has about 200 Marines.
The Defense Department says it's continuing to assess the situation in Afghanistan to ensure there are sufficient forces in the country.
Earlier this year a squadron of Ospreys deployed to Iraq from New River, and in 2008 a squadron of the tiltrotor aircraft were also deployed to Iraq.
