A woman dies after being struck by a tractor trailer Friday.
Authorities they the accident happened Friday at approximately 11:55 a.m. The Atlantic Beach Police Department says they were notified of a pedestrian being struck at the intersection of Fort Macon Road and West Drive.
They say officers responded and investigated a collision involving a tractor trailer and a pedestrian. Authorities report Sue Cross of Raleigh was transported to Carteret General Hospital and later air lifted to New Hanover Regional Medical Center where she died as a result of her injuries.
Authorities say driver of the tractor trailer was attempting to make a right turn from Fort Macon Road onto West Drive when his tractor trailer struck Cross. There is no further information available at this time; the collision is still under investigation.
