FIRST ON WITN: Papa John's Would Be Robber Identified

Police have now identified the man they say tried robbing a Papa John's restaurant with a BB gun.

Winterville Police arrested 21-year-old Graham Rouse of Ayden and booked him in the Pitt County Detention Center at 10:50 Wednesday night.

Jailers said Rouse is charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault by pointing a gun, and simple assault.

Investigators said Rouse walked into the Papa John's on West Fire Tower Road in Winterville with a gun tried to rob the place, but was subdued by an employee and put in a headlock until police got there to arrest him.

The employee has been identified as John Taylor, who has worked at the business for a couple of years, according to the manager.

The gun turned out to be a BB gun.

Rouse is set to make his first appearance in a Pitt County courtroom Thursday morning.

An armed robbery suspect got more than he bargained for when authorities say he tried to rob the Papa John's on West Fire Tower Road in Winterville.

Police say a man walked in with a gun attempting to rob the place, but was subdued by an employee and put in a headlock until police got there to arrest him.

The gun turned out to be a BB gun.

The suspect is charged with armed robbery and assaulting an employee.

No customers were inside when it happened around 8:40 p.m. Wednesday night.
