Wind, High Seas Suspend Hatteras-Ocracoke Ferry Runs

Those wishing to go between Hatteras and Ocracoke on Friday morning have to jump on an early ferry or wait thanks to weather conditions.

The Department of Transportation announced via Twitter that high winds exceeding 35 miles per hour plus high seas resulted in the decision to suspend the route.

The last morning run, until further notice, from Ocracoke leaves at 7:30 a.m. Friday.

The final run leaving Hatteras before the suspension will leave at 8 a.m.

The Cherry Branch-Minnesott Beach ferry route is currently running on a one-boat schedule.
