Weight Of Snow, Ice Causes Textile Plant Roof To Collapse

An Eastern Carolina textile plant has lost part of its roof because of the snow.

Emergency officials in Beaufort County say a 50 foot by 150 foot section of National Spinning Company's roof around 6:00 a.m.

County Fire Marshal Curtis Avery says the flat section over a warehouse caved in because of the weight of the snow and ice on the roof.

Avery says no employees were injured. The plant is located at the corner of 2nd and Plymouth in Washington.

An employee said some cardboard and other supplies were damaged.
