This weekend, one community will lay a man to rest who has served his nation and his county.
Oscar's Mortuary said 78-year-old Leon Staton Sr. died on Thursday, March 27th.
A retired master sergeant in the Marine Corps, Staton served on the Craven County Board of Education and as a Craven County Commissioner.
A viewing for Staton is scheduled for noon - 6 p.m. On Friday and again from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at Oscar's Mortuary.
Staton's funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the Havelock High School Performing Arts Center.
Burial with military honors will follow at Piney Grove AMEZ Church Cemetery.
