A coastal storm is developing off our coast and passing by our coast today, strengthening in to a strong Nor'easter off the New England coast by late tonight into Thursday.

Here in eastern Carolina most of the impacts from the storm are expected through mid-day.

Wind gusts are not expected to get much over 30 miles an hour on the coast. We will likely see north winds around 15 to 20 mph inland.

Rainfall totals should be less than an inch throughout Eastern Carolina, including the coast.

Waves of 5 to 8 feet will bring minor beach erosion and dangerous rip currents, especially along the Outer Banks.

The Pamlico and Neuse rivers may see about an estimated one foot increase in the water level early Wednesday then subside during the day. Flooding is not expected.

This storm will bring just a fraction of the wind and rain that Sandy brought to the area.

Breezy and chilly conditions will persist on Wednesday. High pressure will build in behind the storm on Thursday bringing mostly sunny skies with it. Temps will steadily climb from the around 50° Wednesday to the high 60s, possibly low 70s, by Sunday.
