Wayne County Assisted Living Center Rebuilding Reputation After Hepatitis Deaths

By  |

Just two years after a hepatitis B outbreak killed six of its residents, a Wayne County assisted living care center says they've corrected their problems, and are better than ever.

Formerly known as Glencare, the new Waylin Life Care Center in Mount Olive is now run by Sovran Management. Chris Oswald tells us he's had a medical consultant team in the building since Sovran took over back in February, and he even plans to bring in a registered nurse. After the outbreak in 2010, he says the process has been challenging.

"It's amazing how demotivated the staff was when we first arrived. I mean they had been beaten and bruised, and really not proud to work in the facility because of everything that happened back in 2010," said Oswald.

Oswald says the consultants are re-training the staff on new preventative measures to ensure against another outbreak.
