Watch Out For The Potholes

After navigating the snow and ice last week, vehicles are now dodging another roadway hazard: potholes!

Crews are working all day to repair the pits that have popped up since the winter weather.

Josh Randolph, a paving contractor in Pitt County, says these are the worst potholes they have seen in three years. He says parking lots and driveways were also hit hard.

Clint James with the Department of Transportation says they've had call after call about potholes that need to be covered up after last week's ice and snow. He says, "The cold weather is tough on the roads but the biggest problem is moisture. There's just too much water."

So until consistent warmer weather comes this spring---pothole patch work is the smoothest way to go.

If you see any potholes on state maintained roads you can call the Pitt County DOT office.

Greenville Public Works now has an app you can download called the "city compass" to alert them to potholes.
