A stationary front near the coast combined with moist, unstable air will produce more showers and a stray storm or two across eastern Carolina on Tuesday. Some of the showers will be locally heavy. Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy but we should see a touch more sunshine than Monday. Afternoon highs will high the middle 80s in most communities, with the heat index near 90°. Temperatures will slowly rise to the upper 80s to around 90° during the mid and late week. The risk for storms will stay in the forecast at least through Friday.
